“Grannies” and support bras. You’ll be thankful that you did!

Umm, I think you should worry about what you’re in for than the colour of your underwear, I don’t even think anyone would want to notice unless there are perverts snooping in the women’s barracks.
But if you really care, normal black?

my recruiter said plain white granny panties, and 3 white sports bras and 3 white regular bras. Plain is the goal. Good luck, maybe I’ll be there when you’re there.

    for real-
go buy a package of cotton hanes bikinis. Open the package, and write your last name on ALL pairs you get, PEOPLE WILL STEAL YOUR UNDIES!! So dont bring ones that you like best….Write your name on all the tags on all your clothes, bring a sharpie for the stuff they issue you. Good luck..

White cotton briefs and support bras; you definitely want to go for as much practicality and comfort as possible. The same goes for your hairstyle and makeup. Basic training is fast paced and you will have minimum time for basic hygiene.

Good luck and thank you for choosing to serve our Country.

They don’t have to be “grannies.” They do have to be conservative. You can get briefs or bikinis or those high “French cut” legs, but you don’t want anything skimpy or anything that can “ride up” on you. You DO want cotton, not synthetics (because you march everywhere and Lackland is hot, so you sweat). Also, you have to fold them into neat little “squares” which is darned hard to do with a thong. Haines, Victoria’s Secret, any brand that is cotton, solid (conservative) colors, and really comfortable is what you want. The last think on earth you want to do is have your TI call your underwear “fancy” and ask you to conduct a class in how to fold them because he or she thought the lacy polka dots were ridiculous.

Everyone is on the money with white granny panties or french cut briefs. One thing to take into account is there is a certain way the panties need to be folded. And a certain way they need to appear for inspections. Our TI insisted on us buying the granny panties from the BX because they were easier to fold and the Sgts that inspect the drawers were less picky when judging those as compared to personal underwear females had brought from home. The two types they sell are the white hanes high cut briefs and the regular french cut I guess. I always bought the high cut. I took some of my own basic white and black boy cuts with me, and then put them in my luggage once we went on our first shopping trip. So you can either take what you have now and buy some there, or if you want to buy them before, go for the hanes white french or high cut. Take a couple of pairs. Inevitably, there will be socks mixed in with the whites in the laundry and you will have to buy more since your underwear will now be a light shade of green and not up to standards.
